Privacy notice

This notice explains what information Cobweb (cobwebonline.com) collects, why, and who can see it. We aim to handle your information in line with Nigerian data protection law.

What we collect

Account details: your name, email address, phone number, and city or area. We confirm your email address by sending you a 6-digit code.
Profile picture (optional): a picture you choose to upload in My profile.
If you offer a service: the service, your years of experience, and your area.
If you sell a product: the item name, price, description, area, and the photos you upload.
Reports: when you report a listing, we record that it was reported.
Messages to Mico: we do not save your chat in our database. Messages you type may be sent to an AI service so Mico can understand them.
On your device: a small record that remembers your account and when you last visited. Administrators also get a sign-in cookie. We do not use advertising trackers.
Server logs: our hosting provider keeps standard logs, which may include your IP address.

Why we use it

To run Cobweb: to create and protect your account, list providers and items, let people find and contact each other, keep the platform safe, and deal with reports.

Who can see it

If you are a provider or seller, anyone who visits Cobweb, including people without an account, can see your first name, your profile picture if you added one, and your listing details and photos, in search results and in the browse gallery.
Other people with a Cobweb account can also see your phone number on your listings. They can contact you by phone or WhatsApp.
Your email address is not shown to other users.
If you only look for services or items, other users do not see your details.
We do not sell your information.

When a person with an account taps WhatsApp on a listing, WhatsApp opens with a message already written to the seller or provider. That conversation then happens on WhatsApp, under WhatsApp's own terms and privacy policy, and Cobweb does not see it.

Companies that help us run Cobweb

We use outside providers: Supabase (database and photo storage), Vercel (hosting), OpenAI (to help Mico understand messages), and Resend (to send confirmation codes by email). These providers may process information outside Nigeria.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account or listing exists. You can delete your account yourself from My profile in the menu, or ask us to delete it. Deleting your account also deletes your items, your photos and your profile picture.

Your choices

You can see and correct most of your details, and add or remove your picture, in My profile. You can also ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, or ask us to remove a listing, by emailing us at the address below.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no online service can promise it is completely secure.

Children

Cobweb is for people aged 18 and over.

Changes

If we change this notice, we will update the date at the top of this page.
